How to use a cash drawer?

Cash Drawers come in both manual and electronic models. Manual cash drawers are operated by pushing on the face of the drawer, which will open the cash drawer. Electronic cash drawer can be connected to the POS receipt printer or computer for operation. POS program will usually dictate how the cash drawer is connected. Cash Drawer can work as the platform for other POS devices like monitor, receipt printer and keyboards. Optionally a cash drawer can be mounted below the counter to free up valuable counter space.

What are media slots?

M-S Cash Drawers are optionally available with slots in the front of the drawer that can be used to store various transaction media like cheque, credit card receipts etc. in the drawer without having to open the cash drawer. The “Media” will slide into the space below the money tray. Most M-S cash drawers are available with media slots.

What are the interfaces available for Cash Drawers?

M-S Cash Drawers are available with various interfaces ranging from the standard receipt printer interfaces like Star and Epson to custom interfaces like IBM and Micros. M-S Cash Drawers can also be connected directly to the computer using serial, parallel or USB interfaces.

What drivers are available for my cash drawer?

M-S Cash Drawers with serial or parallel interfaces do not require any drivers. Drivers are available for USB interface cash drawer.

M-S Cash Drawer Corp. also provides OPOS drivers for the USB and serial interface cash drawers.

How do I test my cash drawers?

M-S Cash Drawer provides test application on the website for all printer interfaces, serial and parallel interface cash drawers.

How do I open the cash drawer from my POS application?

Refer to the software documentation. POS application will have a setup area for the hardware where opening codes for the cash drawer have to be put.
