Star Micronics Printers Certified By Revenu Quebec

Designation allows continued use and deployment in Canadian provinceStar Micronics

October 19, 2010 – Star Micronics America today announced that Revenu Quebec, the tax authority of Quebec, has certified its “TSP700II,” “TSP800II”, “FVP-10” and “TSP650 Resto Quebec” receipt printers as compatible and certified with the sales recording module (SRM) to be installed in all restaurants in the Canadian province under a new rule that took effect on September 1st, 2010. The above Star printers comply with the new regulations, eliminating at least one step restaurant operators have to take to comply with the rule.

Implemented to combat tax evasion, the rule stipulates that restaurant operators in Quebec provide all customers with receipts listing each menu item purchased and its price, as well as applicable taxes paid. All receipts must be generated through the Revenu Quebec-selected SRM, in conjunction with a certified SRM-compatible receipt printer and point of sale system. The SRM is the device underlying the technological solution that Revenu Québec has chosen to ensure that taxes collected are remitted to the government.

Star Micronics maintains an unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of its customers, in Canada and wherever its products are sold,” said Michael Hanson, vice president of Star Micronics America. “As such, we were happy to take the necessary steps to ensure the compatibility of our printers with the Quebec government’s new regulations. We will continue to diligently follow legislative developments in our markets and endeavor to make it as easy as possible for retailers and restaurant operators to reap the benefits of our printing solutions.”
