Datalogic Introduces Newest High Performance POS Scanner at FMI/Marketechnics Tradeshow

Eugene, Oregon, May 1, 2007 - Datalogic Scanning Inc., a global leader in data-capture technology, products, and services, announces the debut of the Magellan 8400 bi-optic point-of-sale (POS) scanner at the FMI/Marketechnics tradeshow in Chicago on May 6-8 in Booth #825.

“The new Magellan 8400 scanner breaks all our previous records of performance, reliability and value for this class of high performance scanners,” said Dave Sullivan, Sr. Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Service. “Not only does it offer Datalogic’s newest bi-optic technology, which increases performance, it also offers outstanding value. The Magellan 8400 inherits the Magellan family’s renowned quality and reliability.”

“The Magellan 8400 model is the best performing five-sided POS scanner available today, improving operational efficiency by achieving outstanding first-pass-read rates,” said Matt Schler, General Manager Retail Fixed Scanning at Datalogic Scanning. “It represents the next step in value and checkout productivity from the Magellan family and Datalogic.”

The Magellan 8400 scanner features Datalogic’s patented All-Weighs® platter and optional integrated EAS (Checkpoint or Sensormatic) for supermarkets, hypermarkets, mass merchandisers, and wholesale clubs. A significant reduction in part count improves reliability and streamlines modular component servicing. For the second year in a row Datalogic Scanning (formerly PSC), known for the Magellan family of products, is the leader in total global shipments of stationary bar code scanners for the retail point-of-sale market according to the Venture Development Corporation (VDC).
